Thinking of attending
Novel Farm, in
Pordenone on
19-20 February?
Novel Farm is an international fair-conference focusing on new cultivation, vertical farming and soilless growing techniques. Don't miss the conferences with our in-depth presentations:
MARKET TRENDS IN OLSRT AND HORECA, FOOD SAFETY AND TRACEABILITY
Grow Unit, the zero-mileage indoor growing system Mattia Accorsi, light biologist, C-LED
11.30-13 | Soilless market – NovelFarm hall Everyone's talking about vertical farming. Now, innovations in the sector aim to take it beyond the talking and get people tasting fresh, healthy zero-mileage food. Dr Accorsi will be presenting the new indoor grow unit from CEFLA, a major industrial player based in Imola (Bologna, Italy). The CEFLA Grow Unit is a modular, ecological, innovative device that lets users grow microgreens and aromatic herbs in a simple, sustainable way. Careful use of design and technology means the unit has minimal water consumption and is pesticide-free. This system - which has also become highly popular on leading culinary TV programmes - can be installed in restaurants to produce decorative and aromatic herbs for haute cuisine dishes, in OLSRT chains or even in the home.
PRODUCT QUALITY CONTROL: BIO-TECH, EPIGENETICS, LIGHT, SUBSTRATES, NUTRIENTS
LEDs, the cutting edge of lighting
Mattia Accorsi, light biologist, C-LED 14-15.30 | HORTICULTURE INFLUENCERS - SALA NOVELFARM Today, thanks to nearly 20 pioneering years of intense academic-industrial research, LED technology is making ever-wider inroads into agriculture. In terms of quantitative and qualitative harvesting results - not to mention energy efficiency within the production environment - LED lighting technology is easily on a par with more traditional lighting technologies. Dr. Accorsi will illustrate several case studies, carried out together with Italy's leading research centres in the agricultural technology field. Additionally, other highly innovative LED technology applications, currently under study, will be presented; these concern, for example, micro-algal cultivation, raising the levels of vitamins and functional compounds in leaf tissues and fruits, improving crop shelf-life and manipulating plant growth by means of certain light wavelengths.
