MacFrut 2017, C–LED lights and Growing the stars of the future

Imola, 16 May 2017. C-LED took part in MacFrut, the international reference fair for the fruit and vegetable sector – co-organised by Cesena Fiere and Agroter from 10 to 12 May at the Rimini Expo Centre – by setting up the lighting for a high-efficiency greenhouse together with Cefla Plant Solutions. Thanks to a wealth of know-how – and buoyed by the results of experiments carried out by international research bodies – C-LED provides growing light (plant cultivation) solutions for a range of contexts, from agro-industry greenhouses to small, domestic indoor facilities. C-LED has the capacity to develop growing lights according to the customer’s specific needs and the different plant types by optimising the amount of photo-synthesizing light (PPFD) emitted and modulating the light spectrum (PAR). This allows maximization of fruit and vegetable production by ‘topping up’ low winter light levels or stimulating certain agronomic responses, even out of season (e.g. anticipating flowering, fruit ripening or leaf pigmentation). The greenhouse on display in Hall B1, on Stand 073, also showed Cefla’s cogeneration and trigeneration plants – which can cut costs and reduce environmental impact – in action. C-LED was also present in the fair’s entrance area (set up entirely by Cefla Shopfitting), displaying technology that can be integrated into shelving and display units in large-scale retail fruit and vegetable departments. Such LED technology can provide light spectra with specific wavelengths that stimulate photosynthesis, allowing bigger harvests and extended growing seasons. Innovative solutions include InStore-Growing™, that is, indoor cultivation within the retail facilities themselves. The chromatic and physical characteristics of the LED lighting developed by C-LED have a positive impact on plant growth, enhancing their organoleptic and nutraceutical qualities.
